The acting is great and they have strong characters but the writing is TERRIBLE. There is no show-dont-tell here, and what is told to the charcters is just accepted, with no explanation. This technique has worked for some shows that are ourely for the fans that have read the books, but the plot is VERY different from the books. The romance and the ending are only partially similar to the books, but how they get there, Sword and Cross, and even the characters are completely different. I expected mythologica fantasy sci-fi, instead what I got was frankenstein-laboratory sci-fi.

The acting was the best I have seen in a LONG time, probably some of the best in a romance movie since Titanic. I've never felt the script and the acting so much that I felt love VICARIOUSLY before. If you want yearning kind of love, this is the one for you.

I have finished the first season and LOVE it! I truly believe that those who love the story of King Arthur will enjoy this show as I did-for the wonderful portrayal of King Arthur's story. Yes, it has some minor differences, such as a few names and characters, as well as some added storylines. But I'm enthralled by the characters that I've been attached to since the first season. Arthur is quiet, solemn, wise and humble, and Iain does a great job making you root for whatever he decides to do next. Guinevere is intelligent and compassionate, and compliments Arthur incredibly well. Something rare to find nowadays is a show with a high budget, good acting AND a good script. If nothing else, this show has promise, and I hope people will see that as I have. Personally, the only fault with it is a personal grudge I have against shows that portray Christianity with inherant bias and bigotry, but I'm willing to extend grace and hope that they don't rely on making a religion a straw man enemy for the characters that we love.

It is a beautifully done movie and is a fairly accurate retelling of the book. The only thing that I was disappointed about was the feeling that it glorifies death, especially death by suicide. I would definitely not recommend the movie or book to anyone who is having thoughts about self-harm or has attempted suicide before. Otherwise, it is a startlingly realistic romance with characters that everyone can relate to, and a story that will break your heart and heal it all at once. Readers of A Fault in Our Stars will love this book!
