These Star Wars shows are a real rollercoaster in terms of quality geez! From the excellent lone wolf adventures of Mando. To the weird slow erasure of Boba Fett in his own series. To the pointless Obi-Wan series which exists for one cool Anakin/Vader sequence. To the gritty adult yet again pointless 'Andor' that focuses on a random dead rebel plucked from an old movie (why?). And finally to 'Ahsoka' which AGAIN somehow failed to ignite anything despite coming off a highly popular animated show. Now with 'The Acolyte' we're only two episodes in but wow this is poor. This is the most unexciting and drab looking Star Wars I've seen for some time. Everything is SO generic with surprisingly bad acting. The plot is extremely weak and virtually gives up everything within these first two episodes! The only thing we don't know is the main big bad guy behind everything, but he seems like another dude in a helmet (ala Kylo Ren). Probably another fallen Jedi, ugh! Would be cool to see an alien main character for once. The other surprise is how incredibly cheap everything looks with even more obvious sets than 'Obi-Wan'. All the characters are boring-looking, sounding, and with a painfully obvious and deliberate lack of a certain group of people (White males) clearly to highlight the director's (extreme) political fancy. Granted there is time for things to get better but so far I'm legit bored. The only plus point thus far are the odd decent alien designs that pop up here and there. Someone on the design team always manages to come up with some really neat aliens, so kudos for that at least.

So far, after 2 episodes, I'm genuinely pretty shocked at how poor this series is. The acting is weak across the board, mostly from the Inquisitors (all of whom look ridiculous). But the main aspect that surprised me is how cheap and low-key everything looks. Dare I say, it looks like a typical Star Trek show 🤷 I liked Mando and I liked Boba, but this is by far the worst thus far. A single lightsaber battle at the end of the final episode won't redeem an entire series, in my opinion 🤷
