Having read the books I was at a loss how they could translate to TV. I think they have done it well however and unlike WoT where I found the changes to tv totally distracting I didn’t find my self comparing to the books.
As for portrayal of young scientists that many seem to find difficult, I don’t get it. Scientists are people, you get a range, you get stylish/young/old/drug problems. Of course this drama has more of that, it’s TV
If I see one more post about how DEI (I had to look it up) has ruined casting I might scream. I actually found the range of characters similar to what I see around me so I didn’t even think twice about it ( hence having to look it up) and am slightly perplexed why people seem to think it detracts and find it a bit worrying. It is essential to the theme that the problems are for humanity to solve not just big mega powers.
So this middle aged doctor ex scientist (presumably with a IQ of under 85, my patients will be delighted to hear that) with a love of sci fi from hard core to fantasy, loved this poignant, well paced TV adaptation.
