Keith Lindquist

I like Nick Cage, and this movie has a hell of a lot of him in it. He's playing multiple roles as himself, in disguise, as a younger version of himself and more. It tries to play up the comic angle, but just didn't do it for me. The plot is totally silly, his buddy Rafi is a good character but not played right imo. It's a buddy movie... yet the 2 of them don't make the best buddies. It's almost like they were shooting for tongue and cheek acting with a wink but there wasn't enough tongue and cheek nor winks. The other actors seem to be standing around wondering what to do next. It does have some laughs and some fun scenes in beautiful locales but to me over all it falls flat.

I liked it but didn't love it. Mainly I adored the attention to detail to make this look like the 70s..it totally took me back to my childhood. Hoffman and Haim are very good and believable but the story just seemed like I'd seen it all before somehow...because I already lived it! The plot is all over the place but that's what made it interesting. You really didn't know what was going to happen next. Bradley Cooper and Sean Penn were great but I kept wondering why the hell are they in this movie! Licorice Pizza is charming and entertaining but somehow disjointed. That said, if you're a child of the 70's its a must-see.
