Malevolent? No. This movie made no sense! The evil lady basically sews up any old persons mouth in the end, with absolutely no motivation or explanation. Her 'evil' son just shows up with no explanation. The children serve no purpose other than to wonder around aimlessly, with no purpose or explanation. The performances felt awkward and contrived. It lacked any real scares and the whole story was just underwhelming.
