Classic book. Jung offers a great 1st hand experience of a ww1 officer and decorated hero and a original perspective in the day to day hell of trench warfare. Very gory and descriptive true account by credible and accomplished author. From German perspective book translated in English and is a great read for someone interested in the Great War or a student studying it. It is a very graphic read, maybe not suited for some, as death and the description of the death one experiences in combat is a reoccuring theme. Jung provides some of the most descriptive accounts I have ever read of the gory scenes of war.
