This is not a story of people fighting for a house, or for property.. this a story of a house, what it goes through in its 100s of years of life.. it's walls, floors, furniture, and everything surrounding it.
People change, move out, new people move in, but the house stands still..goes through it all quietly, though its structure is weakening with time..
Mirza is a person who is after the mansion, and his every decision at his age revolves around the mansion, and this has been from the time he married Fatima, his begum. As he quotes, he only saw the mansion, when getting married.
With the mansion, are attached the the lives of its tenants, who cannot imagine/afford to move out for the rent they have to pay is minimal.
When there arises a need to think of the mansion's future and its ownership, then the law comes into play..
In the end, the 'chair' played it well.
Loved it.
