Not usually a Tom Cruise fan but I liked him as Jack Reacher. Unfortunately I found Rosamund Pike's acting a major distraction.

Finally found something really good on Netflix. No subtitles, no English dubbing. Very edgy, dark, sexy, well acted modern plot. IMO.

I think it was trying to be kinda Pulp Fictionish. I only watched it to see James Gandolfini.

I've tried this show three times. First time I shut it off after 15 minutes. Tried it again a couple of months later & almost got thru the whole first episode. A few months pass & I gave it a third try because I've read positive reviews & everyone seems to love it. I'm about to force myself to watch the 4th episode. I'm really trying to like it. It reminds me of a Hallmark movie, a mediocre paperback love story I would've read in high school, or a sappy network tv movie. The main guy character (of course his name is Jack) is someone I've seen before & like a lot, but not here. So far I don't like anything about Virgin River & I'm sure I'll soon be searching for something else to binge on.

I'm only into 5 episodes. The premise is interesting but, as another reviewer mentioned, it's a political soap opera with a lot of overly dramatic music in between Kiefer's husky, anxious, ala Jack Bauer whispery way of talking. Not sure if I will make it through all the seasons. I guess I got spoiled by Homeland which, for me, was a ten and this us about two and a half.

I have no interest in chess or understand the first thing about the game but this mini series was the best thing I've watched in a long time. I found it totally engrossing from beginning to end. Excellent, sophisticated....bravo Netflix!
