A mix of frenetic kung fu scenes and fast-paced dialogues which are supposed to be funny but they are not. Good acting does not save this movie which tries to be another version of Matrix, but with worse story-telling and plot. No idea why it got so many rewards, there are much better and deeper movies like Tar which deserve recognition. There is something fundamentally wrong with Oscar committee to put it on pedestal. Still if you want to see it, rent it rather online to save your money and be able to fast-forward it. Even in a “regular mode” the movie seems like it’s being fast-forwarded (mishmash of loose ideas and images). One of the directors made a few music videos, which definitely echoes in the style of this movie. Nothing wrong with that: it is just terribly overrated.
