Lots of criticisms of Helen Mirren being too old for the part here, agree a bit of a disconnect but also feel many comments are sexist. I loved the sets and costumes. It was never meant to be a documentary. Great to see a couple of Aussie actors.in lead roles. I think the movie was Mirren's attempt to correct some of the appalling ways Catherine has been portrayed by history as a sex hungry pervert. An attempt to undermine her place in history. It clearly has a feminist bent.
