I'm outraged at how I lost two hours of my life for this. There's really no point in watching this movie.
I had seen parts of it on Instagram Reels some time ago, and my first thought was that it was supposed to be a horror movie parody. Then, tonight, my friend asked if I wanted to watch it since the third one is currently being shown in theaters.
Don't get me wrong, the gory parts of the movie are well done, but the sheer number of times I felt bored or tired watching it made me want to write a whole Google review that probably no one will read!
The characters are written terribly—it's the same old stereotype: the scared girl with her extroverted friend, except in this case, nobody is likable. They had two hours to make us feel connected to these different characters, but we can't even like a single one of them.
There's no explanation for why the villain is so strong or why you can't just kill it. (Maybe this was explained in the first movie, but I haven't seen it, so I don't know.) There's also no explanation for why the movie takes place on Halloween, and you don't even feel sad when these uninteresting characters die.
This movie feels like a series of gory scenes strung together with no sense. It's like someone just wanted to satisfy their violent fantasies and, after finishing the film, said, "Yeah, I liked it enough. I'll show it in theaters and maybe make some money off of it."
They could have made a 15-minute short film of just the gory scenes, and it would have been better.
I feel like they stole my money, even though I watched the movie illegally. I'm really angry about how bad this film is, and I will definitely avoid the third one.
