Frank Harwood

First, I must say that I have never read the books, but I know from friends whose judgement I hold in regard that they are gripping and engrossing. However what worked on the page does not seem to have passed on to the screen. The dialogue is stilted, and consists mainly of exposition. The characters either over emote, or seem bored when debating the vague existential threat that seems to be the central maguffin to the whole drama. I'm sure the daemons work on the page, but on screen they are both irritating, and distracting. Are the Tartars wolves their daemons, and if so why are they all the same?! What happens if a daemon is run over by a car? Are beef cattle someones daemons? I so wanted to enjoy this, but it is sadly becoming a bit of a chore.
