I ended up watching this movie because I had nothing else to do and didn't expect much out of it. The title made it sound a lot different then I would have thought. But I was surprised by how wrong I was and I'm glad I ended up watching it.
The story had my attention from start to finish. There was a purpose with each scene and it did its job well to described this dystopian future where beauty is the only thing that matters because that is starting to feel real in our world now.
The character progression (especially Tally) was very well amusing to see. And the world building really got my attention. I feel a good dystopian film needs these two aspects to really help out with the plot and that's exactly what I felt was amazing about this film.
For me, one thing I always enjoy in films is seeing how well it can use music to capture the moment of the scenes, and I really enjoyed the mixture of peices with, and without songs with singing because it was used so well and made the scenes that much better.
Overall, I found "Uglies" really good. And now it makes me want to read the novels, which I'm going to buy tomorrow. I can't wait for "pretties" (the second film) to come out.
