I have mixed feelings about this book. The letter exchange between the PM and Venetia soon became boring and I began to lose interest in their relationship. However I was amazed at the extent of the privileged lifestyle that many titled, land owning families enjoyed. All their needs were met by armies of servants, leaving them to spend each day indulging themselves with endless parties, dinners, travelling, liaisons. The events leading up to WW1 were very interesting as was the Dardanelles fiasco and Churchill’s role in it. Worth a read.
