7.5/10 Good! They should have ended the franchise with another movie, one that gives more closure and homage to the characters, but Dark Phoenix as a standalone film was pretty good.
Pros:
-It had a really good long fight scene that stood out among the other X films. I was very entertained in that train scene.
-It ended with a great friendship scene between Eric and Charles that gave the franchise closure and optimism to their arc.
-The plot was interesting (although rushed) and gave interesting perspective on how a family deals with a rogue member.
-Great visuals
-I think it did Jean Grey justice, although the plot had to be a little rushed at times.
Cons:
-Barely any Quicksilver
-This film and Apocalypse barely had interaction with Eric and Charles. (However, that chess scene at the end made me very happy and had a lot of development that made up for the lack of interaction prior to it).
-A little rushed only in terms of writing (not having enough time to develop certain points), but not in terms of editing. The film flowed well.
-Wasn't any humor, but this isn't necessary to be a good film. I enjoyed the intensity of the film, but yeah they could have dropped in a few good jokes to make it more well rounded.
This film wasn't the best X men film but was nowhere near as bad as the critic reviews! It was a little disappointing as an ending film, but a good standalone film, and a good film for Jean's arc. I would watch it again.
