I thoroughly enjoyed this historical fiction (that has the potential to be based on real events) and found the charcter of Joan to be captivating and interesting. I cheered her on every step of the way towards her journey of taking the papal throne. It’s a nice does to think a women could do so much good in the role, even if it’s just a story. Not a Catholic myself but I would defs had been a fan of a Pope Joan if I lived in the dark ages.
