I started this book full of enthusiasm as it came highly recommended, albeit by a bookseller. Despite some beautifully written passages, I found it tedious and I failed to engage with the characters in any meaningful way. The parallel story about an actress acting the pilot's part seemed to me pointless and superfluous. All in all, I couldn't recommend this book. I was relieved to finish it and felt I had completed a reading marathon.
