It's not perfect, but damn if you loved suikoden you will enjoy this game. Tons of recruitment and world building. My son pointed out it's only real issue (if it can be be considered an issue) is that they try too hard to appease every anime trope. He's not wrong. Each character almost feels pulled from a different universe. It still works and basically let's you build the team you want, but building your "perfect" team feels hard when you can easily use the main characters and coast. You get what you want out of this game. A masterpiece, but with caveats. Truly a love letter to a rare subsect of JRPG's where you get too pick your team and love it, but the game doesn't make it easy to advance your favorite group, unless you happen to love it's preferred team. Still world class JRPG. Hope more games follow it's lead.
