Memoria is a unique film, nowhere does it try to explain its meaning or comfort you in any way. Like memory itself Memoria can be interpreted in many ways, I believe this film is on a personal level for Joe. I was born in the US but my parents are from Colombia, from a city called Armenia about 20 minutes from the village the film was shot at. I know it sounds strange but this place has a certain mystique, an atmosphere that can't be put into words. I think Joe had some sort of revelation or found memory here, It feels like he is trying to reconnect with a past he didn't know existed. It's a collage of memories of many lifetimes.
