It's unlike other horror movies, where everyone expects a jumpscare or something to pop out of nowhere and horrify the protagonist, but not for "truth or dare" which makes you wonder what to expect. Horror movies are clichéd by their jumpscares and the usual "demon/ghost/evil entity" haunting a "house/object/etc" which is taken or found by a character which starts all the mayhem. But "Truth or Dare" looks at this from a different perspective, instead of making the "evil entity" doing the killing, we see teenagers being forced to do the dirty deeds and we see the harsh reality of choices and how the characters try to overcome them. Their decisions sculpt the movie making it intense from the very beginning, their back stories also add to the spice of the movie. Overall, a very unique and original movie. It's quite nice to move away from the clichéd horror flicks of the past and look into a new way of narrating horror stories. Of course, "critics" may disagree, but it's a breath of fresh air to me (who is obviously going to be called uneducated and an amateur, who has probably never seen a horror flick in my entire life) but for anyone out there contemplating to watch this movie, it's an absolute hit.
