After waiting what felt like forever for a sequel that could match the first Gladiator, I guess forever wasn’t long enough. Between the random sharks and monkeys (seriously, why?), and everything just being way too over-the-top, it was hard to take any of it seriously. And then there’s Lucius I couldn’t get on board with his character at all—it just didn’t click. It’s like they tried to do too much and ended up with a movie that was trying way too hard. The whole thing felt more like a wild fever dream than a proper sequel.
