This two-part documentary (and others series similar; "Secrets from the Workhouse") is a terribly fascinating watch, delving deep into the rich, sometimes horrific, concept of Victorian prisons. Paired with the personal stories of the ancestors of notable faces, this series is as empowering as it is emotional. To receive first-hand accounts and follow the journey of individuals, enduring the cruelest of punishment and harshest of labours, for their own survival is truly moving.
