Disappointingly mundane. Hoped for so much more of Spielberg conveying the magic and passion of his personal journey into film-making, in the manner he does in the best of his other films. Sadly, this tries too hard to trump up some drama in his family life that frankly seems pretty safe and ordinary, while the film-making journey is low-key ho-hum. Judd Hirsch's scene and the final John Ford scene were literally the only parts of the movie that were worthwhile (and worthy of being in a 'Spielberg movie')!

Four episodes in and not one character at any point has actually said the word autism!!!?? Like it's a dirty word or something!? Eugh! Patronising, warped, cookie-cutter, pigeon-holed, melodramatic portrayals. No subtlety. Little diversity (it's a *spectrum,* FFS!), over-emphasis on antagonisms and frictions. Actually angering that this is getting lauded so much. Not that it's likely, but anyone rating this 5 stars (or about to), please read the one and 2 star reviews first - nearly all are by people actually 'on the spectrum' or very close to those who are. For good reason. May as well just go back 30+ years and watch Rain Man, this has not got any better. A much better (while still flawed), yet sadly latterly cancelled show to watch instead is, "Atypical."
