You have to enjoy a particular type of hypnotic prose to fall into this novel. I absolutely love her style and exquisite command of language. Kushner is masterful with similies and metaphors and creates intensely radiant scenes. It's true, that the protagonist isn't exactly likable, and the long emails from Bruno take a certain amount of commitment, but for me, it paid off.
