This was not the fun family movie that we expected from the promos. Instead of a fanciful adventure, it was a tragedy of grief, addiction, cruelty, and survival. The children cried through much of the film. It was well-acted and visually beautiful, but it was really sad and depressing. I would give it three stars, but the family insists on only two.
