One of Ye's best albums for me personally. First listen I wasn't too sure, only liking "PAID" and "DO IT", but after listening a few more times I appreciated the artistic value of the album as a whole. The wordplay, flow, references and mix of harder drill-type music and melodic rap make for a classic. And that's the beauty of the album, it's so replayable. Ty Dolla $ign also really impressed me here with his vocals, and I am now listening to him much more than before this album. The features are also brilliant. They really fit so perfectly into Ye's vision for a (near) perfect album. Ye has really outdone himself with this one, definitely a great hit back at haters and almost a sort of comeback album. If you've decided not to listen, I strongly urge you to reconsider that choice and give it a go. I think there's AT LEAST one song you'll be unable to get out of your head.
Summary:
- Typical genius production by Kanye
- Vocals are incredible from Ty Dolla $ign
- Features fit perfectly
- Flow is on point
- Catchy
- Replayable
Most liked tracks:
"PAID" - Hard beat, club type hype music, and the usual musical masterpiece Kanye produces with quirky, unique adlibs and wordplay.
"DO IT" - A more melodic track with an ridiculously good flow and beat, and extremely catchy. Ty Dolla $ign's vocals really shine here. Kanye's verse at the end is also insane.
"FUK SUMN" - Let's just start with the beat, it's a hardline beat with great sounds. Then the hook by $ is so catchy too. Excellent vision by Ye with the samples and adlibs. Great features by Playboi carti who I don't usually vibe with, and Travis, their typical vibes in here.
"VULTURES" - Well what can I say. Bump J went so hard, I thought he was Pusha T. His verse has great references, look it up on Genius to understand. Durk brings the Chicago-style drill dynamic, and finishes up with $ bringing a catchy melodic verse and Ye hitting us with his typical braggy, confidence filled bars. Best song on the album, a true masterpiece orchestrated by a genius.
"CARNIVAL" - First off, it's insane that Inter Milan fans were recruited to sing the hook, that's so unique and just further reflects Kanye's vision. Carti provides his typical hyped up flow, which adds to the upbeat vibe we see here. Ty Dolla $ign switches from his catchy melodic flow to a hard-hitting, punchy flow here. And Kanye delivers some more hard-hitting bars and his typical well thought out and subtle disses. RichTheKid also adds a melodic twist to the chant-like hook provided by the Inter Milan Ultras. Second best song on the album.
These a just a few songs I loved the most, I'm sure if you're a Kanye fan these will also be your preferred choices, but I also massively appreciate the songs not listed here.
