Dear friends I’ve watched less than five Sinhala movies in the cinema in my entire life, but “Rani” truly stands out. If you’re older than me or were born before me, I believe this is a film you must go and see. It beautifully and subtly tells the real story of Richard de Zoysa—without focusing on the brutal details. The film also offers insights into the unanswered questions surrounding the 88-90 period, and what role Premadasa may have played, all portrayed in a very thought-provoking and artistic manner. A must-watch for those who lived through those times and want to reflect on the truths that were never fully told.
