The trailers do this film no justice.
I loved the interpretation of Santa not as the jolly fat man we think of him today but a more realistic immortal man. One who perhaps has lived and felt the changes in children as they became adults, who has possibly spent centuries or longer knowing every adult he ever met and remembering them as a child, feeling when any turned from good, with nothing he could do to change it but warn them with a piece of coal at Christmas.
It includes surprises, it has its funny moments, it has its touching moments, and yes it includes a bit of running around with guns and shooting. And it doesn’t try to explain all the stuff we all know already.
I ver much recommend this film to adults who have been through challenges, who have experienced self-doubt, who have watched another suffer and been unable to help. I also think it would be a decent family film for families with teenagers, and young adults (home for a visit).
I HIGHLY recommend this film to teachers and social workers and anyone else in similar fields.
