Just took the eldest (aged 9) to see SONIC 2. Due a lack of buzz and promo I wasn’t expecting a lot but for what it is (a PG movie) and what it’s aiming for (giving kids an age appropriate franchise blockbuster experience) it’s actually really enjoyable. Bigger, better and just plain more Sonic-y than the first one. My eldest loved it, enjoyed the action and found several moments hilarious and picked up on a load of references to the games and cartoons that I was clueless about. Though, it’s odd that all the human side characters and sub plot points from the first one get a lot of shine. I mean unless you’ve seen the first one umpteen times I think certain call-backs from the first movie won’t land. And yes indeed, there was another child pleasing credit scene at the end.
