My favourite fantasy book and in my top two favourites, ever: number one being "The Tent, The Bucket And Me" by Emma Kennedy . I liked it more than any of the Game Of Thrones, The Witcher and many of the other series I've read. It's not paticularly flashy. There's no magic, no dragons, or anything of that sort but the Anakim are more than strange enough to satisfy the fantasy element.
The book is wonderfully written and the story compelling. I found myself staying up too late and wishing I didn't have to work just to continue reading. You laugh along with the characters and share in their anguish. Im looking forward to reading the other two books now, and my only sadness is that I can't read this one for the first time, twice.
