A Pakistani perspective on the film!
Judging on the merits of the film, it was nice light-hearted romance. The storyline however was not too convincing. The performances were spot on and Kiara Advani carried the show on her shoulders. I particularly loved her accent.
The film appears to be a sincere effort on promoting love and peace. The India-Pakistan banter was measured and not one sided thankfully. The movie showed a nice Pakistani boy mistaken for a terrorist. I dont know if thats intentional or if Indian people really think that way about Pakistanis but it made me really uncomfortable to see how there is a preconceived notion that Pakistanis are terrorists. The movie did challenge it in a way but then also actually showed a terrorist who belonged to Pakistan. Thats almost counter productive or maybe it was done to make it 'digestable' for Indian audiences. All in all, I was equally happy and disappointed by the film. it could have showed India Pakistan brotherhood and could have shown a terrorist to be a non state actor rather than a Pakistani or Indian. It actually ended up supporting this extremely disturbing mindset of people that judge a whole country based on the lied their media feed them.
