I don't agree with the current bashing of Lynch's efforts with the first Dune movie. Agreed his adaptation of Herberts' classic tale left a lot to be desired on many levels. But it seems to me that the ongoing rather viscous critique of his version is intended as a way to promote how much better the current version is rather then an honest critique of the movie.
