Aimed squarely at middle America with the subtlety of a pick axe to the face, which happens in the film to some satisfaction, Robin Hood is a rollicking action parable that if your political leadership lies, steals, sends you off to die in needless wars, and, ultimately, is in the service of interests other than that of the people, then maybe a bit of popular rebellion is called for.
Through this lens, and probably no other, Robin Hood is actually quite enjoyable.
