I didn't think it was half bad. Sweeney wasn't bad. She doesn't have the acting chops or perhaps bravery to bare her emotional pain for the role as say, Debra Winger did in her day. Still she was pretty plucky in her role and she clearly worked hard at it. Good for Sweeney for taking on the role. The scene where her husband stabbed and shot her was harrowing and well done. Movie was too long but I enjoyed it . I thought Ben Foster was excellent and should be nominated for an Academy Award.

I had been looking forward to this but it was so disappointing. Cliched dialogue. Could have been a TV movie. Except for Russell Crowe and Michael Shannon, the actors aren't very good. I've seen Rami Malek play the same character in every movie (with exception of Freddie Mercury) He bites off other people's dialogue and doesn't seen to be listening to them. I have no idea who or what his character was. He should have done those emotional memory acting exercises they make actors do. His character was playing a real life person but it was just Rami Malek Russell Crowe was having a great old time in his role- larger than life. He was pretty good. I really like the understated Michael Shannon. I don't know why but he is one of the most compelling actors around, even though he isn't showy... He doesn't overact and I felt Russell Crowe did at times. Not recommended

I loved the first Black Phone. I didn't see how the sequel would work but it blew me away. Kudos to writers Scott Derrickson and Robert Cargill for making Finney's sister, played by the powerhouse Madeleine McGraw , the main character. Teen girl characters s in horror movies tend to be superficial and vapid and giggly. McGraw is a powerhouse. She's not afraid to be vulnerable or fierce or strong. She stole the movie and carried it. The studio should nominate for her for an Academy Award. I wish Robin from the first movie, the murdered boy who taught Finney how to fight back with the phone, was in the first movie. They had a character playing his younger brother. A sweet strong, very emotionally raw movie that has horror but is also about the deep ties of family

The movie was cliche ridden, and I didn't care for whoever played the son of the Michael Chiklis character. But Chiklis himself is a very sweet, caring performer and I couldn't help but root for his character. He is a fine actor and should be in more movies. He does rage and sweetness equally well.

I went in to the movie today knowing nothing about it. I found the first act too sci-fi-ish to be pretentious and mannered and was resisters But once we got to the second act, my interest perked up and it held my attention til the end. Loved Tom Huddleston's accountant dancing act in front of the crowd and the story of his tragic and poignant childhood. (The only scene I didn't t care for was scene where his teacher is telling him about holding multitudes of people in his head.) The sadness and poignancy of life and death.. Sounds corny but this movie showed how the everyday events in life are the ones that take deep root and shape us. Very pleasantly surprised and also found myself shedding a tear or two. Recommended.

I read the critics' rave reviews. The previews looked fun. I loved the original Naked Gun movies so I went. Aaagh. Leslie Neilsen was HILARIIOUS and always winking at us. Liam Neeson is not funny and he's someone who keeps his distance from the audience. I wish they had chosen someone else for the reboot. Pamela Anderson was the best thing in it. I laughed out loud at her scat performance. Otherwise I was so disappointed.

Terrible movie. You can predict the plot every step of the way. Hackneyed trite dialogue. Walked out.

Awful. Not realistic. Mannered. Badly written dialogue. Also a college student who'd been raped would not be mocking the doctor who is trying to help her. Not recommended

This movie really made me miss the original Superman with Christopher Reeve. Reeves was fun, funny, tongue-in-cheek but didn't make fun of his role. He was comfortable and confident as Superman. Corenswet is easy on the eyes but I have to say he was pretty blah and bland. There was no twinkle in his eye. Disappointed in how flat his performance was. Also the original Superman was hilarious. This James Gunn thing was all about trying to dazzle us with special effects and weird villains. It wasn't earthbound enough. Rachel Brosnahan's role was underwritten. My favorite part- the one that emotionally connected with me was the scene where Pa Kent is telling Clark that it is important to give to the world.. It was quite boring. No heart and no soul.
