What can I say? I expected The Friend to be at the least moderately good but it was terrible- shallow and superficial. Bad acting by everyone. Naomi Watts does not have the acting chops or apparently the emotional range to play a woman in grief. The *actress playing Bill Murray's daughter was dreadful and ditto for Carla Guigino playing his ex wife and whoever the actress was playing Naomi's next door neighbor. Worse than a Lifetime movie. Tried to be cute instead of having any emotional depth. I had higher hopes for Bill Murray but he was phoning it in too. We've seen this kind of deadpan performance in Rushmore and other Wes Anderson movies. Plus he looks TERRIBLE. Do not waste your money on this thing

I didn't know much about this movie except that it was based on a true story - an intriguing one. The actor playing Michael Larsen was excellent. I saw him in the Richard Jewell movie and I'm glad he's had success But the tone of the movie was too cutesy and self conscious and reminded me of the SNL movie- lots of rushing around but was too mannered. Pace was too rushed. Did they film that one show in one day or was it multiple shows that Larsen appeared on? Acting was corpone except for Paul Hauser in the lead and the actress playing his ex wife in the end. I felt David Strathairs was phoning it in But in all, a pretty good movie. I enjoyed it more say, than that Bob Dylan biopic.

I knew nothing about this movie going in. I got a huge kick out of John Mallkovich playing a longtime reclusive rock star. His performance was weird and unsettling. The girl playing the reporter was not very good, however. Malkovich acting skills just blew everyone out of the water Gory scenes were so scary that I had to cover my eyes. I like these kinds of movies where I know nothing going in and am pleasantly surprised. It's a lot better than most of the glop they try to pass off as horror these days

I really wanted to like this movie because I love Bill Skarsgard and the previews made it look good, but I felt that Skarsgard's performance was not seedy enough. He went through external motions of being a seedy character, with tats and vaping but to my mind he could not pull it off. I thought his performance was shallow- very unusual for him- and the dialogue was contrived.. Also can anyone tell me why he didn't just honk the car horn to get help, or was the car not equipped with a horn and I missed it. Very disappointed in this movie.

Loved the Monkey ! I didn't see any reviews on it and so I thought it would be some hokey cliched by the numbers horror movie. But it was really fun and clever. Oz Perkins certainly has a feel for gore, but he adds funny twist to gorey scenes. I couldn't stop laughing. Audience laughed a lot too. The actors -especially young Colin O'Brien playing the son of Theo was excellent. James and Oz Perkins were also very good. Perkins was hilarious Movie made me feel better afterwards because it didn't try too hard and didn't take itself too seriously, yet there were a lot of serious poignant moments... scenes where characters talk about losing their mother. Made me think of Oz Perkins' mother Berry Berenson who was killed in one of the planes on 9/11. I highly recommend this movie

Very disappointing. Aside from their individual early lives and the stories of how they became musicians, the movie is boring and tedious and too sanitized. I know it's about their music but they pretended that Led Zeppelin were choir boys on their American tours in the late sixties and early 70s. Jimmy Page was fairly forthright but he had more to say about music in the infinitely more superior documentary "It Might Get Loud" with Jack White and the Edge. Robert Plant seemed like he'd taken a tranquilizer before the interview- either that or he is just a terrible interviewer. No fire or passion in him. It was way too careful- you can't talk about Led Zeppelin without talking about their image, and this movie doesn't do that.

I had read such bad reviews of this and was pleasantly surprised that it was so much better than critics said. Both Michelle Dockery and Topher Grace held their own. Wahlberg's role was wasted. Dockery is to be commended for playing a strong character and making it believable. It was a whole lot better than something like the media darling " I Saw the TV Glow."

Loved this! I saw it today knowing absolutely nothing about Robbie Williams or his music. I had hesitated about going because it starred a monkey. Turned out to be a brilliant decision ! The monkey stirs emotional depths in the audience that I am not sure a regular human actor could do in that role. Whoever played him was a very talented and funny performer. CGI technology was able to give the monkey tremendous range of feeling in his face. Original and creative use of the camera and actors and music. So much better than the overhyped and tedious and self conscious Bob Dylan movie. Chalamet had dead eyes as Bob Dylan. Morrison as monkey showed great emotional depths in his eyes- pathos, longing, rage, fear, love. Highly recommended even if you're old like I am. Audiences of all ages will like this.

I was really looking forward to this. Alas, there was no real plot. Characters were paper thin. Jamie Leigh Curtis was overreacting all over the place but I couldn't figure out who she was. Billie Lourd and Kieran Shipka were the worst- absolute dead weights. Anderson acted just like herself. None of the actors had a grip on the emotional heart of their character. Have none of them heard of Method acting or emotional memory exercises. They all just recited their lines without seeming to know who their character was. Terrible, terrible plot -if you can call it that. It's depressing to think money was spent on this nothing burger movie Also who was Pamela Anderson's character? We never learned where she was from or where she grew up or what she did before becoming a showgirl. This movie is not recommended.

This movie was terrible - empty, shallow flat and boring. We still had no idea as to who Dylan was at the end of the movie, because Chalamet's "performance" didn't reveal anything about Dylan. I'm guessing he never trained in Method acting, which encourages actor to identify with, understand and experience a character's inner motivation and emotions. He seemed to have no clue who he was playing. He also seemed to be slightly embarrassed to be playing Dylan. I kept thinking how someone like Marlon Brando would have found a way to get into the psyche of Dylan and play him like a real, complex tortured human- instead of the cipher that Chalamet did Also Chalamet doesn't have any charisma in this role. Also I interviewed Suze Rotolo -Dylan's real life muse and girlfirend, back in 1984. Ell Fanning was blah and looked like a California teacher and too passive and weepy. The real Suze was fiesty, intense, Italian, very complex and - like Dylan- emotionally tortured The actress who played Joan Baez had a good singing voice Movie was a waste of money. People should watch Pennebaker's documentary "Don't Look Back" to see the real Dylan.
