I have been a fan since the game was released in 2014 and I have to say the movie was awesome, despite the fact that there was no plot depth. For example, what motivated Vanessa’s decision at the end of the movie to show up all of a sudden to the pizzeria and confront her father? What happened to the animatronics at the end of the movie? There are many hiccups in the plot and the movie seemed cut down due to the PG-13 aspect for younger audiences. But that is forgivable because the games also don’t have that much depth involved in the playable style or lore, so I see Scott’s intentions. Let me tell you about my experience and what I think of the movie.
I watched the movie in theaters during the afternoon of Oct 27, and I came out a little unsatisfied. The auditorium didn’t have that much people around that time but I was with my friends and we had a blast. I watched it again at night and felt way more satisfied for some reason; the movie definitely matches the vibe not only in your auditorium but also the time of day. If I were you, watch the movie with a big audience around night time to get the best experience possible.
Moving on, the movie had plenty of Easter eggs and was easy to follow along. It was cool hearing Foxy’s song appear in the movie, but it would’ve been even cooler to hear Freddy’s music box song which never appeared in the video and is the most iconic fnaf song until this day; they probably couldn’t put it in because of copyright reasons because the song was originally copied off the toreador march. Additionally, the trailers and security footage videos showed a lot more flashbacks and shots that we never saw in the movie such as the new source. As I mentioned before, most likely a lot of things were cut out.
Overall, I would give the movie a solid 8-9/10. Would’ve loved to see more of William Afton and flashbacks back to the 80’s and a lot more action. I don’t really care about the horror because the game is goofy anyways, just like the movie. I definitely recommend you see the movie so they can start making a sequels that can cover more missing pieces of the puzzle that we don’t know about yet.
