I don't think it's necessary to try and defend this movie nor is it necessary to slander it. Candy Corn is very clearly a low-budget movie and the execution (I can't tell if it's from poor script writing or acting) is rather poor, but I found myself laughing at how bad it is. It's closer to a comedy in my mind, not a single jumpscare but definitely not a family movie either.
Predictable, definitely not scary, and there is the usage of a slur (r slur) occasionally, which is the biggest reason I don't bother defending the movie, it's not an entire waste of time but you're not missing out on much.
