Honest take from a writer and big fantasy reader.

This book has great potential, the universe Amber has built is brilliant in terms of mythology and history. BUT, the book has some huge, gaping flaws for such a popular novel.
Firstly, this book is very, very juvenile. The speech is unnatural and the same style for every character, many words should have been altered by the editor. There's this terrible- and infamous- line about shaving her v***na that is so terrible and strange.
Because of the gaping errors in writing, the book is hard to get through, the chemistry falters because the speech is fragmented, rough and has no flow. Some lines are good, but it screams of an author who needs more practice; but has great potential.
The characters were good, sometimes it felt as if Dianna's flaws were overblown. She felt useless sometimes and super powerful othertimes, her amazing range of powers are super under-used, there were many situations where she could have just teleported out of there. But for some reason, didn't. Upon meeting Samkiel, it was like she became useless and annoying.
Hopefully, the writing style will improve and I am still going to try the second book.
But the amount of betrayals... they lose their impact when it's literally every single character she meets. Like, Amber makes a point of saying how fragmented Kaden's supporters are, but then they all betray Dianna??
Honestly, I wanted to love this book, and still have hope for future books.
