I believe the reason so many people are hating this game is because they can't separate their expectations from nostalgia. Warzone in 2020 was a thing not only because of the gameplay inovations (although the possibility to buy back your squad made all other battle royales instantly outdated and boring), but mostly because everybody was playing it. This won't happen again (hopefully we won't have a pandemic the same way we had), but the game itself is great if you have friends to squad with.I actually liked warzone 2 map, at least much more than Caldera on WZ 1. The new duo gulag gives you even another chance to go back into the game, and proximity chat was something I ALWAYS wanted in warzone 1. It makes the game feels so much more like a multiplayer event, so many funny plays you can make with (also it makes infinitely easier to make new online friends to play with).
