Well, the visuals are great but it definitely didn't feel like it was the 1930s. I find this movie too modern compared to the book or the movie by Hitchcock. Also, too many details are drastically changed, so it's not a film adaptation, I would call it director's improvisation. It is good, but only if you don't compare it to the book or the 1940 movie.
