I just had to read this book for school and research it. I didn't think it was that bad at first because I was bored out of my mind for 90% of the novel, but reading it a second time makes me thank god I never paid attention. Absolute garbage 0/10 teachers DO NOT buy. This book needs to be recorded in history as a weapon against humanity because it's literally killing students with boredom. My main problem, Francis. This guy is so fucking annoying. Sexist, childish, elitist... The list goes on and on, ZERO character development throughout the story. Oh no! Francis, you biological brother Mitch literally sacrificed himself so you can live! Francis, how does this affect you later in the- oh, he's getting horny for Rose. Oh my god, Francis! You just found your biological dad after years! He's your only remaining family member! Wait- Francis? Why are you leaving him- Oh, you're horny for Rose. OH NO! Rose is dancing with DERRICK!! Come on Francis, defend your girl! You're getting angry at him for... Having a longer braid?? LIKE HELLO?? Rose is literally the embodiment of "I can fix him", WHY DO YOU LIKE HIM? I wouldn't be surprised if she was coerced into this relationship. Weirdly disgusting sexual themes involving those two, by the way they're both 16. Dimaline YOU need to be put on a watchlist and your computer must be scanned. Travis and Lincoln. Don't know who they are? You're wrong, you probably just don't remember. That's how forgettable they were. The only reason I still remembered Travis was because his name reminded me of Travis Scott. Miig? He's cool, except he's LEADING THE ENTIRE GROUP TO DEATH. Where is "North"? Who is "North"? When is "North"? He literally says nothing except "We have to go north". I really hope recruiters are waiting for them. Speaking of recruiters, you would expect them to be some evil military... Nope, literally just people with normal clothes and a car with guns. If you find a group of racist Americans you can probably recreate the recruiters. The idea behind the book was nice, the premise specifically. That's about it. Not even the story, THE PREMISE. I sincerely hope this book doesn't become a reality. Climate change? Bad. Cultural genocide? Absolutely horrible. But Francis getting a girlfriend before YOU!? That's the sign the Day of Judgement is coming.
