I dont understand what the writers were thinking when they came up with this story. I thought this was going to be good, I was really looking forward to this movie.
But the moment that first scene happened it all went down hill because what the hell was that final destination snicker bar wrapper shit..like really? Also, D Rex? Did the D stand for dumb..cause it looked dumb, what a dumb design. Was it trying to rip off Aliens? What was the reasoning behind the mutated dinosaurs? Oh nobody wants to see dinosaurs anymore, really?? People still visits zoos but nobody goes around trying to mutate a koala. Couldve been, oh dinosaur experiments gone wrong from trying to create I dunno, ice age creatures, mammals, anything better than what we got.
No stakes, no suspense, no real consequences, the ending was so anticlimactic, I was like thats it?...thats the end?
And dont get me started on the characters, at least Johanssen's character was likeable but the rest were just 1 dimensional insert here characters.
Basically this movie was just about some rando stereotypical pharmaceutical baddie who wants some dinosaur blood, this random woman appears in his car, he hires her, they get this dinosaur expert who wasn't really needed in the first place but they just did it to name drop Dr Grant, the random family (who conveniently escapes being swallowed, eaten, drowned, shredded), they arrive at skull island, include a boring rehash of the kitchen scene and the flare scene from JP, escape on a boat when all the dinosaurs are asleep and then let's give the blood to everyone. The end.
I need to accept that Hollywood will never write a good dinosaur movie.
