As another stated: the show appears to be a parody of the books/movie. There is no feeling to it that the books/movie brings. It’s just awkward feeling. The books/movie make you actually feel something and understand the characters. They have personality traits that shine through. The characters in the show have a sense of stupidity that the original works did not possess. All of the actors that play the Baudelaire children in the show look way too young for their characters and act too young. Kalus doesn’t come off as intelligent, he comes off as arrogant and full of himself. Violet doesn’t portray a smart and creative young woman like she is the books/movie. In the show she appears to be a scared young girl that follows others. Sunny is cringy looking (especially her hair and eyes) also, the way she bites and talks is cringy as well. She’s just cringy. Count Olaf doesn’t represent his character at all as the books/movies portrayed. He’s just cringy, as lack of better wording. The humor is not funny at all. I just wince. I can see where they tried to go, with the dark/humor and they failed miserably. The movie is perfect in including darkness, scariness, uplifting, humor, feelings. The show is a huge disappointment to me, as a huge fan of the book series. I wish there would’ve been more movies with the same writers/actors/producers/etc to finish the story on the big screen. The show is just awful, not funny at all. They did a disservice to the writer of the books, to the creators and actors of the movie, and the fans of the two. If I could rate zero stars I would.
