Personally, I had low expectations. Joker, the original, hit very close to home for me in alot of very sad ways that made me feel seen and at the end gave me a bit of catharsis. Joker: Folie a Deux? Well, at first it was better than I expected. Although I was sad about Arthur being in prison I had heard this was more of a courtroom drama at best. (Still wish they gave some back story on capturing him because they don't) but whatever. The songs were nice, they felt a little raw and uncomfortable which is good for this. But then the movie takes a bit of a spiraling nosedive. It's everywhere and its depressing. I'm nit saying a story has to be perfectly linear but it shouldn't be a sad mess. If I wanted to see a sad mess I would look in a mirror. Also queue prison S/A scene because why not right? That was a bit of a tangent but basically, if you loved the first movie, if you enjoy the character of Arthur, if you have a personal history of being SA or abandoned, you shouldn't watch it. I will say they did a good job at representing how bad the system is.
