Uncut Gems is a refreshing change for Adam Sandler. This intense, often stressful, film will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Howard Ratner (played by Adam Sandler) is a not so bright jewler who goes all in on bets to keep him, his family and his business afloat.
The story will keep you enthralled right the way through. Even if at times you find some scenes hard to watch. The tense moments will keep your eyes glued to the screen to see how Howard talks his way out of each situation.
I did at times strugle to feel empathy for Howard. He makes some decisions that, for the average person, would make you question his intelligence. But he does play the under dog well. Working from a small jewelry store, still managing to pull in big clients, to help pay for his extravagant lifestyle, even if he is only holding on by his fingertips. You simply can't help but feel some respect for this slightly uncouth individual.
If I could give it a 3.5/5 I would but it is on the upper side of 3 stars so I will give it 4. Great move, even if at times I found my self wanting to strangle the main character for the decisions he made.
