A storyline that you can get into right up until the film’s utterly abysmal ending. It seemed like Penn ran out of time/money or was devoid in ideas on how to give this film the conclusion that it deserved. I suspect a lottery was drawn and whoever won was rewarded with writing the ending. If the case, the person that won had clearly never written anything in their lives. The Pledge is doing its rounds on Netflix and despite being a fan of Nicholson, I really wouldn’t bother.
