I loved The Queen’s Gambit, in my opinion, it was the best show to come out in 2020. During this time of binge-watching tv-show upon tv-show, this boredom doesn’t allow us to really pause and appreciate how truly deep and complex these shows are. I’m the type of person to non-stop watch a tv-show if I love it. The Queen’s Gambit took this to another level. I just sat in my room digesting what I had watched the day before. Although I do like to analyze shows like The Queen’s Gambit, I just couldn’t process it. I spent more time thinking about the show than actually watching it. From episode one all the way to the surprisingly fulfilling seventh episode you are taken aback, from the sheer amount of detail they put in one you start to look for it. Beth goes through many stages of her life in those seven hours of suspense. Her makeup is one of the key reflectors of it. From her lip shade to eyeliner, everything about every makeup look tells you something more about the characters. The outfits are a different level of outstanding. The way each episode leaves you on just that much of a cliff-hanger is captivating. How each character is brought in and out of Beth’s life is just pure artistry. Don’t even get me started with how well Anya Taylor-Joy portrayed Beth Harmon. How Taylor-Joy’s unique facial dynamic suits Beth Harmon perfectly to Taylor-Joy’s insistence on red hair. In my opinion, The Queen’s Gambit receives a 10/10. If I don’t see an Emmy with Anya Taylor-Joy’s name on it. I didn’t deserve to view The Queen’s Gambit.
