This is not how it should have ended. Bathsheba has deceived, humiliated, and insulted Gabriel multiple times.
Even though she knew how much Gabriel loved her, she chose other men over him. And when she has lost everything and has no one left to love her, she goes back to Gabriel. So she kept Gabriel as a backup all those years.
Gabriel shouldn’t have accepted her and should have left her to her fate. Gabriel deserved better.
