Competent acting though not all casting true to the books; Prof Bhaer a much older, bearded German not a young man who looked more of a half Italian than Laurie. Found moving back & forth in time confusing if you hadn't read the books, but enjoyed the contemporary issues raised & pace of directing/acting.
