There are 2 halves of the game. First half was fun. There are several Disney worlds you go through and they tell the story of that Disney film. These worlds are mostly linear but there is room to explore and have fun. The story isn’t great- but it’s still fun.
About halfway through the worlds become more linear than anything. The monsters inc world, as an example, is a play through with limited pause in the action to explore. You then get to the pirates of the Caribbean and it’s the same- except the end is like black flag- you’re on a ship, firing canons to knock out other ships, exploring islands, taking over ships, swimming and exploring the depths. That world was fun!
Then you get to the end. At this point, all the characters look at each other and grunt/ sigh. This gets super annoying along with the words “light”, “darkness”, “heart”, etc. these words and the grunting are non-stop. Cut scenes are non-flipping stop at this point as well as you’re watching vs playing. The final world is really 3- and each time it’s 5 minutes of action for a 15 minute cutscene. The final boss you have to beat 3 times- and there is no progression of that fight. It’s as if they lost all creativity and direction at the end. The constant stopping for cut scenes nearly made me rage quit. I found myself skipping them as the story starts to really suck.
In the end- you beat the bad guy, sora goes off to find his friend but they never lose that story line like they show the rest of the crew hanging out. And even then, another bad guy comes back from the dead to start it all over- so there is no closure at all.
It’s a fun play through but can get highly annoying. I’d recommend a play through but it’s not squares best work. It had so much potential wasted.
