Keeping aside the nepotism debate, this is quite a good movie by Karan Johar after a long time. Jahnvi Kapoor's acting is to the mark, so is everyone else's. However, the usp of the movie is the father-daughter bond between Pankaj Tripathi and Jahnvi Kapoor. For those thinking of not watching it due to Karan Johan and Jahnvi Kapoor, watch it for Pankaj Tripathi and others. A film is made by contributions from everyone, not just a single character.
